MYTH BUSTERS

At TDMS, we are unapologetically ambitious for every student, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs. To ensure that we not only do this, but do this well, the quality of teaching is at the forefront in every classroom. Every student must receive the highest quality education to enable them to take the next step in their chosen career pathway through an excellent set of results. However, it is imperative that we also focus on how our students learn best so that they are set up for life beyond school. We want all of our students to flourish, therefore a by-product of our practice is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to develop confidence, resilience and independence, and in turn, reduce anxiety.

To help our students understand how they learn best, we have developed a series of educational myth busters. During morning meetings, students learn about each myth in turn, looking at the research which dispels the myth and what they can do to ensure they learn in the most effective way. They will learn about the cognitive load theory, the importance of feedback and reading, and knowledge-based learning.
