Our aim at TDMS is to prepare students for their GCSE and ensure they leave school being numerate, analytical, able to solve problems and capable of taking logical decisions. Our students take the AQA exam board GCSE 8300 examination at the end of year 11. This consists of three, 1½ hour papers (1 non-calculator and 2 calculator). Some more able mathematicians may also be entered for a free standing Mathematics qualification at the end of year 11. The resulting qualifications are graded 1 to 9 (1 being lowest and 9 being the highest).
In 6th form we offer the traditional mathematics A-level, a further mathematics A-level and a Core mathematics qualification.
We expect all students to be fully equipped for all lessons and this includes a protractor, pair of compasses, pen, pencil, ruler and scientific calculator.
Mathematics is a key life skill and it is our vision that all students at The De Montfort School will leave with the skills they need to succeed in the future.
