Unlocking Your Child's Potential
Spanish
Modern Foreign Languages French and Spanish at key stages two and three allow students to explore writing and speaking to develop variety and accuracy in a range of contexts. These include everyday contexts about one's own society and authentic materials exploring society of French and Spanish cultures.

GCSE French consolidates and builds upon the language acquired at Key Stage 3. You will broaden your range of vocabulary in the areas of experience. French grammar is also developed, enabling you to recognise and use more complex structures. It is also an opportunity to find out more about France, its culture, including films and music and its varied regions. You will use websites to develop your vocabulary and language and to practise for examinations and ICT for writing and speaking. This course will provide you with skills needed in the workplace or for further study at AS and A2 level. Key stage five French, AS and A2, explores French culture and society, developing higher order language and fluency in writing and speaking.

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world ranking just behind English. You will be following the Edexcel course and you will continue to build on the Spanish you have learnt in year 9. You will be assessed in all four skill areas: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. By the end of Year 11, you should be able to communicate with Spanish speaking people about a range of topics relevant to you. You will also be able to share your interests, ideas and opinions with other people who speak Spanish. You will learn about the countries where Spanish is spoken. Key stage five Spanish, AS and A2, explores Spanish culture and society, developing higher order language and fluency in writing and speaking.
